Summary

Spectra Palmwoods is the first high-rise multi-unit group housing project in India to feature stacked terrace homes with wrap-around balconies integrated into the project.

The lower mass of the terrace homes in an L-shape building helps scale the building beautifully and stand-out. The organization of units this way helps in creating a large public plaza within the site. The public place is purposefully placed on the north side to keep it shaded from the harsh sunlight in the summer.

The terrace units overlook the public place, buzzing with activities. A clubhouse packed with amenities is placed at the ground and first floor and spills over to the public plaza with a swimming pool, children’s play area, party area along with a mini amphitheater designed for community events.

The end goal of the project was to design something that catered to the climate, lifestyle and well-being of the community it supports.

Concept

"Contemporary architecture that

bring you closer to nature.

The project features 2 BHK, 3 BHK & 4 BHK Unit typologies in three different styles of Contemporary homes, namely, the Sky Home, the Garden Home and the Terrace Home. These units range from Approx. 1200 Sq. ft. to Approx. 4050 Sq. ft.

The Sky Homes on the 13th Level and 14th Level and connected vertically to form a large double height volume in the living and dining that connects also to the large outdoor deck area and stand out, giving one the feeling of living in the sky.

The Garden Homes on the 5th Level – 12th Level are smaller units and are designed for the living and dining to spill out into the large deck space with outdoor seating and green planters.

The Terrace Homes on the Ground Level – 4th Level have green terraces that wrap around the unit as an extension of the large living and bedroom spaces and are stacked vertically above one another. With a strong connection to green and sky, one can experience a sense of an independent residence.

Masterplan

Large pedestrian landscape, protected by L-shape of building, creating a “world within a world” and a common gathering space for the residents. A hierarchy of uses within this landscape, containing a swimming pool, party area, amphitheater, spaces for resting or walking. Thereby making this a zone that serves a wide range of interests and building a strong sense of community.

“Spectra Palmwoods is case for pushing the limits of architecture and building design to deliver something spectacular.

Spectra Palmwoods was designed in an approach to architecture called ‘Regionalism’. Regional architecture closely follows the developments of vernacular architecture but incorporates modern building materials and technologies. The climate and context are the two driving elements in this form of architecture. The focal point of this project therefore was its stacked, green terraces that opens up into a central plaza.
